Usage Note
Ingente is a formal adjective used almost exclusively with quantities, sums, or amounts (una cifra ingente — a large sum; ingenti danni — substantial damage). It is rarely used in casual speech, where grande or enorme is preferred. It does not change for gender (invariable in that respect) but agrees in number: ingente / ingenti.
