Infliggere is an irregular second-conjugation verb: past participle inflitto (not infligguto). It takes avere as auxiliary. Commonly used with pena (penalty), danno (damage), or sconfitta (defeat): infliggere una pena, infliggere una sconfitta. The double -gg- is pronounced as a held consonant.
