Usage Note

Infittire is used both transitively (la nebbia infittisce il traffico = the fog thickens traffic) and intransitively/reflexively (il bosco si infittisce = the wood becomes denser). It conjugates as a regular -ire verb in the -isc- group: infittisco, infittisci, infittisce. The auxiliary in compound tenses is essere when intransitive.
