Usage Note
Impopolare is a false friend trap for English speakers: it looks like 'impopular' but the correct English word is 'unpopular'. It is invariable for gender (same form for masculine and feminine): un politico impopolare, una scelta impopolare. The plural adds -i: impopolari. Used most often in political and social commentary.
Examples
"La riforma era impopolare tra i giovani."
Natural Translation
The reform was unpopular among young people.
