Usage Note

Idrogeno is masculine (l'idrogeno) and invariable in the plural when used as a mass noun. It is the lightest chemical element (H, numero atomico 1). Learners sometimes misspell it without the initial 'i'; note also that the stress falls on the second syllable: i-DRO-ge-no.
