Usage Note

Fumée is a French loanword used in Italian specifically for smoked or tinted glass — vetro fumée, occhiali fumée (tinted sunglasses). It is invariable in Italian (does not change for gender or number). Outside the fixed phrase with glass/lenses it is rarely used; the native Italian equivalent would be affumicato (smoked).
