Usage Note
Forte means 'strong' for people and things, but also 'loud' for sounds (musica forte = loud music) and 'good at' with essere in (sono forte in matematica = I'm good at maths). As an adverb it means 'hard' or 'loudly' (colpire forte = to hit hard). It is invariable for gender: un uomo forte / una donna forte.
