Usage Note
Formalizzare means to give something official or binding form — formalizzare un accordo = to formalise an agreement, formalizzare la candidatura = to submit a formal application. It uses avere as auxiliary. The reflexive formalizzarsi has a completely different, colloquial meaning: 'to stand on ceremony' or 'to be uptight about formalities' — non ti formalizzare! = don't be so formal / don't worry about it!
