forfait
flat rate; fixed-price package
Origin: From French forfait (fixed price, forfeit).
Also means
withdrawal (from a competition)
Usage Note
Forfait is borrowed from French and is invariable in Italian (plural unchanged: i forfait). It is always masculine. In commercial contexts it means a flat-rate or all-inclusive price (prezzo a forfait). In sports it means a withdrawal or no-show (dichiarare forfait, to withdraw, to pull out). Do not confuse with the English 'forfeit', which it only partly overlaps.
Examples
"Abbiamo scelto il forfait tutto incluso per le vacanze."
Natural Translation
We chose the all-inclusive package for the holidays.
Literal Translation
We-have chosen the flat-rate all included for the holidays.
