Fino is almost always followed by a: fino a domani (until tomorrow), fino in fondo (all the way to the bottom). The phrase fin da means 'ever since' or 'as far back as': fin da bambino (since childhood). Do not confuse with the adjective fino meaning 'fine / thin', which is a separate homograph.
