Usage Note

Esagerato can also function as a noun: sei un esagerato! (you're such an exaggerator!). As an adjective it describes anything inflated beyond what is warranted — prices, reactions, claims. In colloquial speech it is often used with mild affection or humour: che esagerato! This dual adjective/noun use is common in Italian.
