elegance

noun eh-leh-GAHN-tsah Rare

Usage Note

Eleganza refers to refined grace in appearance, movement, or style. Italians use it freely in non-fashion contexts too — con eleganza ('gracefully') describes a sporting move or a diplomatic reply. The adjective elegante and the adverb elegantemente belong to the same family. Note the plural eleganze is rare; the noun is usually used in the singular as a mass noun.

Examples
