actually

adverb ef-feht-tee-vah-MEN-teh Less Common

Also means

in practice

Usage Note

Effettivamente is a frequent false friend for English learners: it does NOT mean 'effectively' (= efficacemente). It means 'as a matter of fact, in reality, indeed'. It is used to confirm or concede something: effettivamente hai ragione = 'you're actually right'.

Examples

"Effettivamente non avevo capito bene."

Natural Translation
