Divellere is a literary or elevated verb meaning to forcibly pull something out of the ground or out of its place — divellere un albero (to uproot a tree), divellere una porta (to wrench a door off). It is highly irregular: past participle divelto, remote past divelsi. In everyday speech Italians usually prefer sradicare (to uproot) or strappare (to tear out).
