Diramare carries two main senses: to spread out like branches (a road that si dirama into several paths) and, in official or journalistic language, to circulate or issue (a communiqué, an alert: diramare un comunicato). The reflexive diramarsi is used for physical branching; the plain form is used for issuing documents.
