disappointing

adjective deh-loo-DEN-teh Rare

Also means

let-down

Usage Note

Deludente is an invariable adjective (same form for m/f): un risultato deludente, una prestazione deludente. It describes something that fails to meet expectations. The corresponding noun is delusione (disappointment) — another false friend, since delusione does NOT mean delusion (which is illusione or delirio). The verb is deludere (to disappoint).

Examples

"Il film è stato molto deludente."

Natural Translation

The film was very disappointing.
