Also means
over-the-top
Usage Note
Caricato is the past participle of caricare (to load, to charge) used as an adjective meaning exaggerated or overdone — as in a caricature (un personaggio caricato = an over-the-top character). In everyday speech it often means strained or forced (un tono caricato = an affected tone). Do not confuse with carico (loaded, heavy), which is the plain adjective from the same verb but without the connotation of exaggeration.
Examples
"Il suo accento straniero era un po' caricato."
Natural Translation
His foreign accent was a bit exaggerated.
