Appetito appears in the ubiquitous mealtime greeting Buon appetito! ('Enjoy your meal!'). The phrase stuzzicare l'appetito means 'to whet the appetite'. It can also be figurative: appetito di potere ('hunger for power'). The plural gli appetiti exists but the singular dominates.
